Rear Lower Tonneau Panel - BD19340/4 - Series 1 FHC & 2+2
This is the rear lower tonneau panel of the Series 1 E-Type FHC (2-seat Coupe) or Series 1 2+2.
This is the LATER STYLE (most Series E-Types from 1963 and later...)
There were two different construction methods for Series 1 FHC body shells, and so there are two versions of this piece for Series 1 E-Types:
The earlier cars have a larger license opening with a more rounded edge (top photo), and the drip channel is also made in two separate pieces that overlap each other... This piece is also mirroring the actual factory construction where this actually WAS a separate piece, and the dotted lines show where the factory leaded seam is...
The later cars have a smaller license opening and a sharper edge (bottom edge), and on these cars, the drip channel is all one stamped shape with no seams. We do have a weld seam in our version of this piece inside the drip channel, but it is a VERY clean seam that can be smoothed out during the bodywork phase very easily. These later cars do NOT actually have this as a separate piece with leaded seams... Instead, the entire hatch opening is one giant stamping, and this piece is more of a "repair panel" than an actual reproduction of a panel that exists as a separate piece in the car.
We make this piece by hand on the English Wheel to match patterns from the original cars exactly - you simply will not find a better fitting version of this panel anywhere...
This panel is required when rebuilding the rear end of a Series 1 coupe - OR - when converting a Series 2 coupe to a Series 1 tail...
