Full-Length Bonnet Center to Wing Flanges

Full-Length Bonnet Center to Wing Flanges

  • $385.00

These flanges will allow you to SAVE YOUR BONNET! - by replacing your badly rusted "Center section to Wing" flanges that run the length of the bonnet under the chrome finishing strip.

Patterned after an original bonnet and wings - the curvature and hole placement is correct.  They are formed from 18-gauge steel - just slightly thicker than the original bonnet pieces (approx. .006 thicker), and include the full flange itself, plus 5/8" of the flat surface of the bonnet and wings.  This allows you to fit them and then grind and sand them once installed to feather them into the original bonnet pieces, and also adds strength over the original that will minimize the distortion as the center section is bolted to the wings.

The curvature of these flanges is a DEAD MATCH to an original bonnet, and they are also made in sets as perfect matches to each other.  The hole size and placement is EXACTLY the same as an original bonnet, the angles are correct (the wing flanges are a little less than 90-degrees and the center section flanges are much more than 90-degrees), and there is extra material at both the forward and rear ends.

NOTE: This is a job that needs to be done carefully to avoid warping the center section and wings with excessive welding heat!  On the other hand, these flanges are often the only hope for a badly rusted bonnet, and if you take your time installing these, you'll be back in business with a solid bonnet that has the proper curvature from front to back.  For some badly rusted bonnets, it makes sense to use all 4 of these flanges in their full length.  For others, you might want to use only portions of the flanges - that is up to you.  We are happy to provide technical support after the sale, and help you utilize these in whatever way makes the most sense for your bonnet, your welder/method (MIG or TIG), and skill level...

Delivered in fresh, bare steel coated in a light oil for rust-prevention, simply wipe down with solvent before priming.
